The driver is only half the filing

A team bringing in an international driver plans the driver's petition carefully, then discovers late that every mechanic, crew chief and engineer travelling with that driver needs a filing of their own — tied to the driver's, on the driver's dates.

Crew filings do not stand alone. A P-1S rides on the driver's P-1A; an O-2 rides on an O-1A. They are filed together or in sequence, their validity has to track the driver's, and each one has to show a prior working relationship with that driver plus skills not readily available here.

The argument that wins is specific. Not "no American mechanic could do this" — that loses. It is the working relationship built around this driver, this car and this setup, over a named number of seasons.

Motorsport has one real advantage. The racing team employs the driver, so unlike most individual sports there is a genuine employer to petition. The weight shifts onto the team, the series and the race schedule.

These are our own filings, and they are redacted

This is not a set of invented samples, and it is not other people's work.

Every document came from a petition our own agencies filed We checked the representative on every notice. In motorsport the racing team is the petitioner, because the team employs the driver — so the test is who prepared the filing. Where a motorsport petition in our files was prepared by another firm, it was left out, including one we would have liked to show.
Personal data has been removed, not covered over Passport numbers, dates of birth, home addresses, personal contact details and signatures are deleted from the file itself — including inside scanned notices, which were read by OCR and burned out at the pixel level. Nothing is recoverable by copying text out of a black box.

P-1A or O-1A for a driver?

P-1A suits a driver with a real season in a recognised series, with the team petitioning as employer. O-1A is filed on extraordinary ability instead and does not depend on the series carrying the case — useful where the season is thin or the series is less established. Both routes are in the kit, taken from real filings.

What do the crew need?

Each crew member needs their own petition — P-1S behind a P-1A driver, O-2 behind an O-1A driver. Neither stands alone, the dates have to track the driver's, and each has to show a prior working relationship with that driver and skills not readily available in the U.S. The kit has two real crew support letters, on two different teams.

Can I file myself using these?

People do. Whether you should depends on your case. The templates and the worked examples show what a complete filing looks like and where motorsport petitions get challenged. They cannot assess your evidence for you.

How do I get in after I pay?

Your username and password appear on the confirmation page immediately after payment. Save them before you close the tab. If you lose them, email us with your receipt and we will send them again.

Are the real names in the documents?

Yes. Personal data — passport numbers, dates of birth, addresses, signatures and personal contact details — has been removed from every file.

Do you cover other sports?

Yes — there are cricket and track and field kits already. Each kit is sport-specific because the evidence, the governing bodies and the failure points are sport-specific.

Can I share or resell the files?

No. They are licensed for your own use and your own cases. Please do not redistribute them.
